Camelid VHH Antibody Discovery Service
Camelids naturally produce a unique type of antibody that lacks a light chain, known as a heavy-chain antibody (HcAb). The variable domain of HcAbs, called the single-domain antibody (sdAb) or VHH (also known as nanobody), is only one-tenth the size of a conventional antibody.
VHH antibodies possess distinct physicochemical properties, including small size, high affinity, strong stability, low immunogenicity, excellent tissue penetration, and ease of recombinant expression. Additionally, their modular nature allows integration into structures that conventional antibodies cannot achieve. These advantages have led to the rapid expansion of VHH applications in biotechnology and biomedical research.
